Lest We Fall, Also

Consider carefully what God said to Israel in the days of Jeremiah the prophet, lest we repeat their sins and similarly displease God with our sins, both, personally and as a nation.

Jeremiah 22:21 - 22:22
I spake unto thee in thy prosperity; [but] thou saidst, I will not hear. This [hath been] thy manner from thy youth, that thou obeyedst not my voice.
The wind shall eat up all thy pastors, and thy lovers shall go into captivity: surely then shalt thou be ashamed and confounded for all thy wickedness.

God is very clear that He wants us to enjoy His successes in life, and because of this He repeatedly warns us to beware that we NOT repeat the sins of the past.

Acts 13:40 | View whole chapter | See verse in context
Beware therefore, lest that come upon you, which is spoken of in the prophets;

2 Peter 3:17 | View whole chapter | See verse in context
Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.

1 Corinthians 10:12 | View whole chapter | See verse in context
Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

1 Corinthians 11:31 | View whole chapter | See verse in context
For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.

As this link shows us, accepting God's plan of redemption can set us free from our bondage to sin.
