Any responsible, moral, sane person knows that it IS necessary to be prepared to perform godly executions of evil doers, and that godly wars may be required to solve bad situations. However, the sad thing about some people’s thinking and attitude is that some folks don’t recognize that killing of our fellow human beings should be a last resort in dire circumstances, NOT a first choice, and certainly not for pleasure.
When righteous people uphold godly law and moral principles, and in doing so have to go to war or execute people, that demonstrates that people of evil intents broke godly law or violated moral principle, thus earning fatal punishments. It is NEVER the fault of a righteous shooter that any given perpetrator shall have chosen to perform evil acts that warranted the perp being shot to death. In order to understand and accept this, we need to also accept that we are not able to solve our problems without the absolutes and standards of God’s rules and help. Despite the anti-God and anti-gun crowds’ views, God DID institute the death penalty for many sins. (Which sins? Those are discussed in the Bible, and shall be for eternity.)
I’ve been to war and wanted to “kill the bad guys”. Our government lied to us about why we were actually in Viet Nam, but, as a soldier, I was more interested in honoring our Constitution and keeping our people safe, than in the act of killing people. As a combat soldier, a crewchief on a Huey gunship, I fired hundreds of thousands, or maybe millions, of 7.62mm rounds out of my M-60 machine gun. BUT, even with my combat experience, and though, as a civilian, I “pack heat” virtually all the time, I REALLY have no “desire” to kill anyone. But, I am prepared, because, based on history and human nature, I know that someday it may be necessary and justified for me to have to shoot someone in order to stop her/him from perpetrating some life-threatening evil against my life or the lives of those around me. I WANT to live in peace, BUT, I am ALSO ready to defend against evil. I do not arm and prepare to fulfill some lust or dissatisfaction with life, but rather to be ready to defend and preserve life and liberty, just as our Founding Documents speak of the defense of those things.
People who lust to kill are wrong and shall answer for that lust before God. Being willing, able, and trained to kill, righteously, is FAR from the lust of wanting to kill; FAR from the urge of bloodletting to satisfy one’s curiosity, frustrations, or anger. We must remember that we are accountable to God and to each other.
All that said, evil does NOT take vacations. Therefore, we, the law-abiding, God-loving, God-fearing citizens, must arm, prepare (including by studying God’s Bible and by prayer), and we must train our minds, hearts, and bodies. Unlike those who perpetrate evils upon the rest of society, we, the law-abiding, must have our priorities straight with God and in line with our Constitution, that we offend not God nor infringe upon our fellow citizens. We, the law-abiding, must remain reluctant to take the first shot, unless evil forces us to interdict it, in the defense and preservation of our lives, constitutional Principles, and the lives of those we love. We, who love God and our Constitution, must be willing to engage the battle, willing to lay down our lives in defense of Life, Liberty, and our Loved Ones. We must also remember that godly war, godly self-defense, godly defense of loved ones, and godly executions are NOT done in the pursuit of sinful human bloodlust that only seeks to please the lust of the flesh.
By God’s mercy and provision, according to our Constitution, in these United States of America, trained, responsible, God-fearing, law-abiding, gun-owning citizens are a wall of defense against many interpersonal, governmental, and social evils. Let us, therefore, encourage and respect each other in the continued support and defense of our Constitution and of each other, that is both our Right and our Duty. In our fulfillment of our Rights and Duties, let us not forget God’s ultimate battle between good and evil.
