My dear fellow citizens of these United States of America:
“The time is now near at hand which must probably determine, whether Americans are to be, Freemen, or Slaves; whether they are to have any property they can call their own; whether their Houses, and Farms, are to be pillaged and destroyed, and they consigned to a State of Wretchedness from which no human efforts will probably deliver them. The fate of unborn Millions will now depend, under God, on the Courage and Conduct of this army” – Gen. George Washington, to his troops before the battle of Long Island
The choice is ours! What shall we be? Slaves? or Free?
If we shall choose to be Slaves, then let us quickly discard our Constitution and Bill of Rights lest those Documents remind us of what we squander.
If we are to be Free, then let us swiftly, diligently, and continually engage ourselves in the labors and defense of our Constitution and Bill of Rights, fully embracing our Rights and Responsibilities, lest we throw away forever that which our Founders bought for us with their blood and sufferings, and to which so many of us have contributed and dedicated our own blood and sufferings on many battlefields, in support and defense of our Rights and Constitution.
