Are We Setting Our Lives and World On Fire, or
Obeying God?
In Isaiah 50:10, God asks who among us fear and trust Him; who among us admit that we have no real light of our own; who obey His ways:
"Who is among you that feareth the LORD, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light? let him trust in the name of the LORD, and stay upon his God."
Immediately after that, in Isaiah 50:11, God then warns us against being self-reliant troublemakers who go about to establish our own ways, instead of joining ourselves to Him, for both these verses are laden with promise:

Immediately after that, in Isaiah 50:11, God then warns us against being self-reliant troublemakers who go about to establish our own ways, instead of joining ourselves to Him, for both these verses are laden with promise:
"Behold,
all ye that kindle a fire, that compass yourselves
about with sparks: walk in the light of your fire, and in the sparks that ye have kindled. This shall ye
have of mine hand; ye shall lie down in sorrow."
No matter how bright our human light may
seem to be, too often it becomes a blinder-narrow focus, and our downfall, that brings
sorrow and suffering. We get caught up in the flying sparks of our own ways and
those same sparks not only blind us to God's ways, but our sparks set earthly
fires around us that are not what God wants for our lives, nor for the lives of
those in our sphere of influence.
God promises that our fiery spark-like self-deceptions
will always bring His condemnation and our sorrow ...whether sooner or later,
yet, that is certain, for God "cannot lie".
We can break free from creating such self-deceptions and sorrows in our lives
and world by doing as God says in verse 10. The path to such obedience and trust
is begun through "repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ."
Now THAT is true love!
Will
you now choose the REAL love of God, and receive God's offer of eternal life, today, ...even at this
very moment?
You will never regret your choice, if you settle your life on
and in Jesus Christ, because real repentance and faith brings real changes to us and to our behaviors, including "peace that passeth all understanding". The changes in us impact everyone and everything around us, the way that God wants His Light to shine, not as our earthly fire-starting sparks that once blinded us to Him and His ways.
