God Defines Idols and Consequences of Idolatry

God's definition of what constitutes an idol is found in Isaiah Chapter 44. Notice that God says that includes anything, including ourselves, in which we trust or that we prefer before or instead of the due love, fear, respect, duty, and allegiance that we owe to God. Therefore, all of us have committed idolatry at one time or another.

Jeremiah 7:17-20 is an example of what our idolatry deserves:
¹⁷  Seest thou not what they do in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?
¹⁸  The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger.
¹⁹  Do they provoke me to anger? saith the LORD: do they not provoke themselves to the confusion of their own faces?
²⁰  Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, mine anger and my fury shall be poured out upon this place, upon man, and upon beast, and upon the trees of the field, and upon the fruit of the ground; and it shall burn, and shall not be quenched.

Our Will To Sin or To Be Redeemed

In verses 17 and 19 the use of the word "will" indicates a definite decision choosing to act in a specified manner. It is important to recognize that there is actually very little about which we do not make deliberate decisions, as we go through our daily lives, including deciding to choose to commit the sins on which we think and in which we indulge ourselves, against God, others, and ourselves. 

God's response to our habitual sin is plain and understandable. Many, in our modern society, fail to teach others or learn for themselves that there are always consequences for every act, whether we see the fruit of our actions in this life or we see them sorted out at God's Final Judgment. God is not bent of punishing or destroying people, but on redeeming them if they choose to be saved. God wants us to choose Him, choose His ways, and choose to repent and walk with Him, for our own good.

Let God Change Your INTERIOR! Exterior Paint Only Fools People

This is NOT complicated. Whether people put a new coat of paint onto something with great care or just do a sloppy job, they are only altering what the human eye can see, AND, they are NOT changing anything about the nature of the item that is being painted. Likewise, when people make outward changes in their lives without ever getting their souls right with God, then they haven't changed anything other than their exteriors. God sees the inside and what we are really like. INSIDE is where He wants the change to begin to occur in us. That internal, spiritual alteration of our hearts and minds is NOT something that we can do on our own, without Him, His Word (the Bible), His Christ, and His Holy Spirit. He talks to us plainly in the Bible's Book of Romans about our past decisions that have led to our failures and sufferings, and about decisions we can make by which we can improve our future.

ANOTHER Mindless Anti-gun Tax Still Doesn't Address Violence

The following link and quote are part of an email that an info source sent to me. A major issue is raised by mindless taxation of this sort. It is blatantly obvious that those who draft and pass legislation of that sort do NOT think logically nor do they expect their constituents to think logically. I draw that conclusion because there is NO WAY that added taxes on firearms or ammunition could ever, in any effective manner, address the evil & violence of those who are determined to perpetrate evil & violence. In every practical sense, taxes of that nature, as discussed in the email, ONLY affect law-abiding citizens and have virtually ZERO impact on violent perps.

Ashley Madison & Subway Spokesman Child Porn Scandals NOT New Stuff!

The tabloids, TV, and internet are VERY busy flapping on about the current Ashley Madison hack and the exposure of former Subway spokesman, Jared Fogle. BUT, we need to remember that God has been telling us to wake up and get right with HIM for a LONG time, since Adam, Eve, Cain, and Abel! For thousands of years, as an example to all of humanity, God has been warning and correcting the Jews about their attitudes and behaviors, rewarding them when they walked with Him, and whenever they didn't do things His way, then, they reaped the unpleasant rewards of their decisions and actions.

For numerous reasons, a huge number of people despised Lincoln, in his day. This true quote shows him to have been a bit of a political hypocrite, as President, with regard to certain presidential edicts he issued during our Civil War.  Abraham Lincoln said that he knew that he was not above our Constitution, despite certain of his questionable acts as president. Where is that courage of which Lincoln spoke, that "we, the People" should actively stand on, by, and with our Constitution, especially against the tyrannies of "the men who would pervert the Constitution"?

Faith or Faithless?

Jesus made an interesting comment in John 20:27, telling Thomas to "be not faithless, but believing". Thomas was bold in his denial that Christ had risen from the dead, until he actually was face to face with Jesus, again, in the verse 27 scenario. It's an interesting story about the way that we choose to believe, and the things in which we place our faith.

Despite how religious or irreligious a person is, or how they speak or act, each person has faith and places that faith in numerous things. The issue of whether they have faith specifically in God or His Christ is, in one sense, peripheral to the argument of whether all people exercise faith or not. I put it this way because I can recall several discussions with people who said that they did not have religious faith of any kind. Is that really possible?
