America the Beautiful? Where Is Your Self-Control?!

A friend and I were swapping emails, today, about the recent passage of state and town budgets, here in CT. He and I are both disgusted with the tax-n-spend/borrow-n-spend mentalities of many people in our community, state, and nation.

The biggest problem is that citizens are allowing their governments to tax them and mortgage the labors of future generations at rates that are neither sustainable nor prudent, at rates that have crippled and continue to cripple personal and business productivity, discouraged initiative, and, backed by laws that destroy sound business innovation and practices, such taxation and mortgaging of citizen productivity wholly undermines the fabric of our society and the manner by which people have historically made themselves of economic value to one another... free enterprise. Except for certain underground economy ventures, that can be found on many street corners and in dark alleys across our nation, there is little true free enterprise left in our society. Instead of free enterprise, since the days of FDR, some eighty years ago, we've become one of THE biggest Socialistic societies in the world, despite our Constitution and all the lip service to this being a free nation.

Few citizens have stood up with the same earnestness and vigor to stand and fight against modernistic and socialistic evils that are plaguing our Nation. Now, as legalistic and socialistic infringements continue against our Constitution and citizenry, UNLESS "we, the People" get off our individual and collective 'duffs' and get into this grand political battle to save our Constitution and Nation, there will be no freedom at all.

Granted that our only true eternal security is in Jesus Christ, but those who lust for power must be stopped by all of us, the very citizens from whom the power mongers and brokers are stealing our rights and resources. Why are we so blindly going along with them as we allow them to strip us of rights, our resources, and our way of life? As the Bible says, in 2 Peter 2:1-3:

1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
2  And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.
3  And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.

One reason that we see so much degradation of and in our society is that too many citizens still think that they can get their own private piece of 'the pie', though they do not understand that that worldly prize to which they aspire is nothing more than rotten roadkill. The filling in that pie, they so desperately yearn to devour, is the destruction of their own families and neighbors, now, and several generations in the future. From where this writer sits, subsistence living, in Alaska or elsewhere, is starting to look increasingly honest and appealing… not that I’m in any shape to live that way. But, based on all the politically oriented articles that I read, subsistence living sure looks a lot more honest and godly than the existing governance of most of our modern communities.

Come on! America! Wake up! ...and wake up Connecticut!... before you let go of the last of your self-control. Where is your constitutionally mandated readiness to govern yourselves in a godly manner! Read all the verses of "America the Beautiful", and you'll quickly see that it is no wonder that so few citizens sing that hymn any more!! This is NOT the time for slumber, hiding, or convenient pleasures, but to rouse one another to get into the fight to save our state and our nation! If we are too afraid to participate in the fight to save our families, our state, and our nation, then we have already lost the war. This is NOT the time for quitting, but of engagement and work to stop unconstitutional infringements against our Founding Principles. If you're not sure what that means, then read the Bill of Rights again, or for the first time and learn your responsibilities. God bless you as you seek Him through His Word.
