Longing for Spring Break? Exciting Alternate Options!

SO, you and your friends are eager to run to some warm weather social hot spot, rip off your clothes (or someone else's), get drunk, do drugs, have sexual relations with anyone you can, and generally act as if you don't know or care what you're doing, ... yup, that's generally the modern Spring Break attitude and behavior pattern. Overindulgence of our flesh has been called "getting stupid" for a reason. BUT, that is just the natural lusts and urges part of life, and we don't have to live as slaves to such things.

On the other hand, YOU are NOT a dog in heat! You are a man or a woman with the free will that God gave you to choose good things over sinful things. Do you REALLY want to have the marks of lust and chaos on your spirit and reputation for the rest of your life? Believe me, unless you black out, you ARE going to remember most of your actions from the intense and chaotic Spring Break experiences. You may even have to live with flashbacks about things that you chose to do or that were done to you against your will. Furthermore, people get around a lot these days, and you may keep running into people with whom you interacted in some improper or destructive manner. Be assured, OTHER people ARE going to remember who you are and what you did during Spring Break... and that includes God remembering every single detail.

Hey, let's be honest with ourselves... Face it... ANY of us is capable of exercising her or his free will to decide to take off our clothes, provoke our natural urges and tempt others around us. Anyone CAN decide to get drunk or do drugs or get rowdy. That's ALL old stuff, all the way back to not long after God created humans. NONE of our overindulgences are new. Anyone CAN decide to travel to destinations that promise consequence-free sexual arousal, sexual relations, and all sorts of mayhem. But, it is, also, in the power of our God-given free will, that we CAN make OTHER decisions that are far more constructive, and way less harmful to us and to others.

Whether you or I have done those things in the past or choose to do them in the future SHALL result in consequences with which we shall live the rest of our lives. When I was young I did things that still linger sadly in memory. There is NO going back to fix those things. I could have done better or differently, but chose selfishly to do those things that harmed me, and others around me, tainting our futures to one degree or another. Choosing to engage in the lustful chaos of modern Spring Break activities shall yield similar consequences for all who participate therein. Whether those who plan to let loose and party are the perpetrators or the victims, there are definitely crime, injury, abuse, rape, and unwanted pregnancy as a result of the loosened natural passions of so many people gathering together. YOU and I do NOT have to participate in those sins, or crimes, nor to be victims of them.

There are other things that we can do to help us get a better perspective on ourselves, relieve our stresses, and help other people, instead of just indulging our lusts and passions. Yes! There really ARE alternate activities to the normal modern Spring Break stuff. Some of the alternate options lead us in godly directions and can help us overcome the lusts of our flesh as we learn to do good things for others. Here are some Google Search links showing directions in which we can choose to move that will be a benefit to ourselves and to all humanity. Let's not be selfish, but, with godly love and sacrifice, give to others, sacrificing our passions to honor God, growing ourselves into more disciplined adults, and helping others. THAT's a winning combination!

IF you are not sure about your relationship with our Creator, Jesus Christ, here's how to get that nailed down and make SURE that you are saved from your sin. I've made that decision to accept Christ Jesus on His terms. It's a wonderful life, even when I still get tempted and struggle in life. Come join me in Christ, as we surrender to Him and see how He helps us overcome the weaknesses and lusts of our flesh.
